Why a private flight from the UK to Croatia is the most convenient option

As you are well aware, flying on commercial aeroplanes can involve considerable inconvenience.

Not only are you forced to travel together with strangers and stand in long lines at check-in before boarding the aircraft, but it often happens that you have to make one or more layovers at other airports and have to wait for hours to connect with another flight.

In addition, there is another aspect to consider: scheduled flights require you to adjust to the airlines' schedules, which can be annoying if the reason for your trip is an emergency or an important work commitment.

Given these problems, opting to charter a private plane could be a great solution.

This choice has significant benefits in that:

  • You will be the one to decide the departure time
  • Once at the airport, you can take advantage of the fast track dedicated to charter flights
  • You will save time both before and during the flight
  • You won't have to layover anywhere
  • You'll fly solo or in the company of the people you want
  • You will be able to customize your flight with all the services you want.

Nine Croatia's hidden gems you cannot miss

1. Trogir

The city of Trogir architectural jewel straddles two inlets: the old part is enclosed by walls and the ideal time for a thorough visit is autumn or even spring, not the peak tourist season, because being a very attractive destination it is often taken by storm, and it is difficult to fully enjoy its beauty. Within the walls are the entrance gates to the town, inside which narrow, winding stone-paved streets lead to the beautiful palaces and many churches that make Trogir an open-air museum.

2. Opatija

Opatija is a town full of charm in Northern Croatia with a long tourist tradition: it has numerous hotels of different categories in buildings of great historical value, wonderful parks with tropical plants and multicoloured flowers, monuments, museums, and a large open-air theatre that in the summer comes alive with plays and concerts. However, it is best known for the Waterfront Promenade that sheep the rocky coastline connecting all the beautiful villages of its Riviera: from Volosko to Lovran.

Behind the Riviera is the Ucka Mountain National Park with its sea-view lookouts and hiking and walking trails; in front of its shores is the Kvarner Bay with its islands – Krk, Rab, Cres and Lošinj – and in a few hours you can reach the bustling peninsula of Istria.

3. Gorski Kotar

Gorski Kotar is part of Continental Croatia, that part of Croatia that not many people know about and few consider as a tourist destination. It is a mountainous area with large expanses of verse, pine and holm oak forests, lakes, streams, and rivers. It is home to the Risnjak National Park, valleys and hills where flora and fauna abound, and a quantity of small picturesque villages with typical wooden and stone cottages where one can seek refreshment on sultry summer days. The Gorski Kotar region is 30 to 40 minutes by car from the main tourist resorts, is famous for its rich and unique gastronomy and hosts picturesque events such as the "Night of the Frog".

4. Sibenik

The Cathedral of St. James in Sibenik was built from 1431 on the now decaying Romanesque basilica of St. James in the Square, in several stages by several masters: it was finished 124 years after the first brick was laid and every corner of the cathedral, from the facade to the side walls has sculptures, carvings, capitals with mystical and religious meanings, while the interior is rich and opulent.

The cathedral is best known for the decoration of carved heads that runs along its entire perimeter and represents ordinary people of the time.

5. Telascica

Telascica Bay on Dugi Otok Island (in front of Zadar) is undoubtedly a natural phenomenon that leaves you speechless: it is a deep bay that carves into the coast of Dugi Otok Island, imprisoning in its lagoon several islands and a salt lake whose western side is 160 m above sea level. It is a destination for day trips, but it is also possible to stay there and spend the days strolling along the paths through the park, swimming in the beautiful lagoon with its life-rich backdrops, or fishing: in fact, there are some beautiful Robinson cottages in the park, with terraces and gardens just a breath away from the sea.

6. Pula

The city of Pula in Istria is the center around which revolve many small towns known for the quality of their beaches, crystal-clear sea, entertainment and tourist offer.

There are family villages with private flats overlooking pine forests that shade pebble beaches, such as:

  • Banjole-Medulin with its sandy beaches
  • Premantura and the Kamenjak Nature Park
  • Stinjan with its unexplored (but full of surprises) coastline
  • Fazana port of departure for visits to the Brijuni Islands National Park

7. Split

Split is the most important city in Dalmatia, gathering around the harbour from which ferries leave for all the large islands of Southern Croatia, but it is most famous and visited for the beautiful Diocletian's Palace built in 293 in the shape of a quadrilateral measuring 176 m by 215 m, protected by towers and walls 18 to 24 m high and more than 2 m thick.

Within the high walls are some 300 civil buildings built after the Avar-Slavic invasion in the 7th century. It is an architectural monument of grand proportions, excellently preserved and alive because within it are stores, private homes, waterfront bars and clubs overlook from its walls.

8. Dubrovnik

The city of Dubrovnik is certainly one of Croatia's best-known attractions. It lies at the foot of the 412-meter-high Brdo Srdj Mountain and is a jewel of art and architecture as well as one of Europe's most important historic centres. It is a city of stone, built on rock, and to visit it as it deserves one must budget at least two days, with many nighttime excursions through the beautiful streets and alleys.

9. Plitvice Lakes

The Plitvice Lakes are unmissable and unique: they are located between Zadar and Zagreb and consist of lakes connected by waterfalls that can be visited by a network of wooden footbridges.
