Where to take part at the most glamour Fashion Events?

Fashion Weeks

The fashion week is a fashion industry event, with the duration of approximately 7 days, where designers, brands and Maison display their latest collections in runway of the fashion event to buyers, public and the media. These events influence the trends for the current and upcoming seasons. Many celebs are paid to attend and sit front row, and the airports fill up with private jets from all over the world, for the owners to attempt to the catwalk.

The most illustrious fashion weeks are held in the so-called fashion capitals of the world, with a high importance given to the big four: New York, London, Milan and Paris. Those cities have the majority of press coverage and advertisement.

Also other cities worldwide host important fashion weeks. They are Mumbai, Beirut, Berlin, Dubai, Los Angeles, Madrid, Monaco, Rome, San Paulo, Taipei, Shanghai, New Delhi, Copenaghen, Sibiu, Jakarta and Tokyo.

In 1903, a New York City shop called Ehrich Brothers put on what is thought to have been the country’s first fashion show to attract middle-class women into the store. It is likely that American distributors saw what were called "fashion parades" in couture salons and decided to use the idea. These "parades" were an effective way to promote stores and improved their status. They were staged, and often held in the shop’s restaurant during lunch or teatime. These shows were usually more theatrical than those of today, heavily based upon a single theme, and accompanied with a narrative commentary. The shows were hugely popular, up to the point that crowds were so large, that stores in New York in the fifties had to obtain a license to have live models.

In 1943, the first-ever New York Fashion Week was held with one main purpose: to give fashion buyers alternatives to the French Fashion during the World War II, when workers in the fashion industry were unable to travel to Paris. Until 1994, shows were held in different locations, such as hotels, or lofts.

As a model, being the first one "opening the show", is a big deal.

Arguably more important than opening the show, is closing the show, because the last model to walk out (sometimes hand-in-hand with the designer) is often referred to as the Muse.
